Asian grocery stores and supermarkets stock ingredients, snacks and household goods that general American supermarkets often do not carry, organized by category rather than by country of origin in most stores. Produce and live or fresh seafood sections are usually at the back or side of the store, and weekend mornings bring the largest crowds and freshest restock. Many larger Asian supermarkets include a hot deli or food court counter selling prepared meals by the pound or as fixed plates, useful for a quick lunch while shopping. Labels are frequently bilingual or untranslated, so store staff can usually help locate a specific ingredient if you ask. Worst for pickles! Last time I got growing fungus in their imported pickles from Bangladesh. I did not complain and let it go because I thought it could be some sort of problem with imported products. I went there today and saw a bunch of expired pickles (expired in last May!). I told the man (may be salesman or manager, a BD guy, idk) and he told me to keep aside the expired pickles! I found some pickles with extra paper with new dates(looks like it’s attached later) then I asked that man if the sticker in the back is an extra date then he was rude to me and told me not to buy it if I have any doubts. That man said they open the box and place it as like it is. Now, you guys tell me which company send their product with extra date sticker in top of original date printed below?! We look for some product which is from Bangladesh and is very close to our heart and that’s the only reason we go to market like Sundarban. Or else there’s no reason to get expired on frozen products from them! Too bad to face such mannerless people!

We love this store wholeheartedly. They offer excellent-quality hilsa fish and a rich variety of frozen Bangladeshi fish. We tried baila, rohu, mola, lotia, rohu, and hilsa eggs—everything was delicious. The quality of their beef is also excellent. Their frozen vorta items are definitely worth the price; we tried several varieties and all of them were very good. From the sweets section, we tried sweet curd and pithas, and absolutely loved them. And most importantly all of their employees including the owner are so friendly and they serve in a very good way.

If you are Bengali from - either Kolkata, or Bangladesh - you would love to see the collection of frozen fishes, vegetables, or some typical spice mix, quintessential to Bengali kitchen. I found some good ‘Daler bori’, and Bangladeshi frozen food and sweets. They have a good meat section too.

This store offers a decent range of Bangladeshi frozen fish. Despite what the name might suggest, the store doesn’t sell fresh fish. They also have halal beef, goat, and chicken. Other food items include Bangladeshi spices, rice, chips, biscuits, pickles, desserts, and cooking utensils. Although I was skeptical about the store owner/manager based on the previous reviews, my experience so far has been great. I’m not sure if the owner has changed in recent years. The few times I’ve been to the store, the owner has been pretty helpful. I have been able to pre-order and pick up orders without issue. Something has NOT changed, though— the store is not clean; the floor is visibly dirty, and God forbid you need to use the restroom. You can park right in front of the store, which is excellent, especially since it’s a convenience few other stores on Devon Street offer. Don’t leave your car there and go to other shops, though— it will get towed. The prices are similar to other ethnic shops in the area, not great, not terrible. For Bangladeshi groceries, this store is a great option. However, if you just want to buy fresh halal meat, there are better options on Devon Street with a broade
